Our shared purpose is to develop and embed a self-improving system for the early years that will drive up outcomes for all children, and narrow the gap in attainment between the most disadvantaged children and all children. We want to move children’s learning experiences from good to outstanding. We want Newham’s early years to be amongst the best in the country. We have taken significant steps towards that goal, but there is much more to do.
We work in partnership with, and draw our strength from, the networks around us: Newham’s Early Years team and the East London Early Years and Schools Partnership (the Teaching School Alliance led by Sheringham Nursery School) and other nursery schools across East London.
Learning without limits is all about early years settings and schools working together to improve quality and make a real difference to children’s life-chances – especially for children facing disadvantages.
Well over 1000 young children attend Newham’s maintained nursery schools.
Ofsted inspections and research evidence [PDF] show that Maintained Nursery Schools are the highest quality part of England’s education system.
We want every young child in Newham to benefit from high quality and appropriate early years education and care.
Learning Without Limits was started by Newham’s seven nursery schools in 2014, with the support of the local authority. Working Together – Newham’s Early Years Hub – was developed out of our work to improve outcomes for children, with the support of the Greater London Authority http://www.newhamnurseryschools.org.uk.
